Meet CC, our newest volunteer in Costa Rica at Room2Board

Where are you from and how old are you?
I’m from a small town in New Hampshire and I’m 21.

What are your hobbies?
I like to read, do yoga and drink with my friends. My favorite adventure travel story was probably when I went sky diving the other week in Manuel Antonio, the view was so insane.

How did you hear about Room2Board?
I found out about room2board from hostelworld and checked into it because they offered yoga classes and then I found out about the volunteering by visiting for a weekend and saw the opportunity on the whiteboard.

What is a typical day of work like?
A typical day of work is hanging out at the desk and checking people in or out and answering questions, it’s really laid back.

What is the best part of volunteering at R2B?
The best part of volunteering here is meeting new people from so many different places and learning how we all got to this one place, the worst part is probably sleeping in the dorms but it’s all good.

How has your time in Costa Rica changed you?
Costa Rica has made me more laid back and more in the moment like if I feel like doing yoga, I do yoga if i feel like reading I do it. I don’t stress about the next thing.

What is your favorite meal at Chili Guaros (Room2Board restaurant)?
My favorite meal here is the vegetables, which is weird but they’re mad good.

What would you recommend to guests to do in Jaco?

I would recommend guests to spend a day or two with nothing planned just do things as the day presents itself, it opens up more room for opportunities and a chance to meet new people.

If you could sum up Costa Rica, Jaco, and Room2Board in one sentence what would you say?
I guess in one sentence this place is where stressful lives come to die and free spirits come to thrive.
